Vancouver, June 24, 2005 — It's official. The foundations of St. Vincent's and Holy Family hospitals are announcing their amalgamation into a brand new organization - St. Vincent's & Holy Family Health Care Foundation.
Following months of discussions, foundation directors reached a unanimous decision to come together in support of seniors being cared for in Providence Health Care facilities - Holy Family Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital Langara, Brock Fahrni Pavilion and Youville Residence.
The creation of the new foundation means a renewed vision and commitment to patients and residents in these facilities. "Caring for seniors was at the heart of all our discussions," explains executive director Ann Corrigan. "Now that our foundations have come together, our commitment to providing for their comfort and care is even stronger."
Over the past few years, donations to both foundations have supported a long list of initiatives at the sites including the purchase of specialized equipment, implementation of the Eden Alternative(TM) program, enhancements to living spaces and seed money towards establishing Providence's Centre for Aging and Health.
The new foundation will continue funding innovative research on the process of aging through the Centre for Aging and Health, and continue to provide financial resources for equipment, programs and services at each of the sites.
The foundation will also support Providence's Legacy Project and embark on a capital campaign for the redevelopment of St. Vincent's Hospital, Heather site into a "Campus of Care," and Holy Family Hospital's programs and eventual redevelopment.
A new foundation website will be developed within the coming months highlighting projects currently being funded, programs, events and other fundraising initiatives. For more information on the foundation, and how you can support its initiatives, call (604) 877-3193.
