The Secrets to Mental Fitness for Life

This session was held on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at St. Paul's Hospital. This free event was open to St. Paul's Hospital staff, volunteers and clients as well as members of the wider community. The speaker, Wendy Thompson, is a Gerontologist, author, motivational coach and former Olympic Speed Skater. She has 30 years of experience in the field of wellness and is known for her dynamic presentations and workshops.

This presentation included an overview of Wendy Thompson and Sandra Cusack's book Mental Fitness for Life, 7 steps to Health Aging. Wendy addressed the widespread misconception that we automatically lose some of our mental abilities as we grow old!  She provided practical solutions for staying mentally fit including information on (quotes are all taken from Mental Fitness for Life):
